It Looks a bit like...well...erhm~ |
Not the most appetizing pastry I've seen--hahaha, but I still had to get it. Apparently, it's a chocolate croissant. I had a couple reasons that urged me to buy it~
It goes without saying I picked it up because I wondered if it tasted as great as the idea (a choco-stuffed croissant). The other reason? It reminded me of the pastry "Choco-Cornet", featured in a Lucky Star episode.
Lucky Star is filled with all sorts of hidden meanings...perhaps... |
Eh~it tasted alright...the chocolate wasn't as sweet as I would have liked. The market that was selling it, isn't known for it's pastries--so I'm sure it will taste better if gotten from an actual bakery~
The bread itself wasn't anything special either--heck, a buttered croissant at Costco has more flavor. I'll have to try it again, and hopefully I'll enjoy it more the second time around.
For now, I'll rate the Choco-Croissant at Ranch 99...

(+) - The choco-cross. combo is a great idea. I'm sure it's well done at other locations.
(+) - The baker isn't stingy with the chocolate nor is there an excessive amount of it. A somewhat balanced amount of choco and bread.
(-) - Texture is dramatically different between toasting it and eating it straight from the bag. Because the pastry is dependent on it's texture...eating it straight from the bag wasn't that great an idea.
(-) - The chocolate itself was rather...bland tasting. It would have been fine if it was either sweet or slightly bitter, however...the taste of the choco was pretty neutral.
